Let the Wheat Grow Until Harvest Based on Matthew 13:24–43 KJV By Robert Sauber Verse 1 The Master sowed good seed one day, Within His chosen field; The kingdom’s truth was cast abroad, Its holy fruit to yield. But while the weary workers slept, An enemy came near, And scattered tares among the wheat, To trouble faith with fear. Chorus Let the wheat grow until harvest, Let the Lord divide the field; He alone can judge the hidden, He alone knows what is real. When the angels come in glory, And the final trumpet sounds, The righteous then shall shine like the sun, Where the Father’s joy is found. Verse 2 The servants cried, “Didst Thou not sow Good seed within this land? From whence then came these bitter tares, This work of wicked hand?” The Master said, “The foe has done This evil in the night; But do not tear the field apart, Lest wheat be harmed in sight.” Chorus Let the wheat grow until harvest, Let the Lord divide the field; He alone can judge the hidden, He alone knows what is real. When the angels come in glory, And the final trumpet sounds, The righteous then shall shine like the sun, Where the Father’s joy is found. Verse 3 The field, our Savior told His own, Is all the world below; The good seed are the kingdom’s sons, Whom Christ Himself did sow. The tares are children of the foe, The devil’s dark deceit; But harvest comes, the end shall come, And judgment shall be met. Verse 4 The Son of man shall send His host, His angels from on high; They’ll gather all that worketh sin, Before His searching eye. The tares are bound and cast away, The wheat is gathered home; The barn of God shall hold His own, No more from Him to roam. Bridge Who hath ears, now let him hear, The Savior’s warning plan; Not every stalk that fills the field Shall golden fruit retain. Lord, make me wheat within Thy hand, Not chaff before Thy flame; Let my heart bow before Thy Word, And trust Thy holy name. Final Chorus Let the wheat grow until harvest, Let the Lord divide the field; He alone can judge the hidden, He alone knows what is real. When the angels come in glory, And the final trumpet sounds, The righteous then shall shine like the sun, In the kingdom of their Father’s crown.
